Transylvanian Hound

The Transylvanian Hound is a breed of dog. This breed of dog has some other names and those names are Erdélyi kopó, Hungarian Hound and Transylvanian Scent Hound. These names are used in different countries and registered by different kennel clubs. The origination of the dog is Hungarian. It is a standard breed of dog according to many kennel clubs. Some popular kennel clubs recognized this breed of dog and those kennel clubs are American kennel club, United kennel club and Fédération Cynologique Internationale. This domestic breed of dog is mainly used for hunting purpose. It is enlisted as scent hound.
This breed of dog is very strong and fast in running. This dog is found in two different variations. Those are categorized by the long and short legged. It is a medium sized breed of dog. The color of the coat of this Transylvanian Hound is black and tan color markings are found on the chest, muzzle, forehead, nose, lower limb and extremities. The distinctive tan eyebrow spots are visible in this breed of dog. This dog was rescued during the 20th century. The dog is straight and muscular back. The body of the dog is athletic size. The weight of the dog is about 25 kg according to the UKC and the height of the dog is from 21.5 to 25.5 inches.
The skin is thick somewhat and look of the skin is black. It does not have any standard requirements of UKC. The head of the dog is similar to the hound style. The skull is domed and it is developed as supraciliary ridges. The nose of the dog is straight and black. The eyes are round and brown dark. It is medium sized. The tail is strong and well set. The tail is curved also. It has very strong and muscular neck.
This Transylvanian Hound is good in nature and it is protective. It is loyal to the family of the owner. It is a courageous and brave dog. This dog has fulfilled the requirement of the standard of the temperaments of UKC. It is a perfect hunting breed of dog. This dog lives for 10 to 12 years. Generally, it is a healthy breed of dog and it is infected by no serious disease but common health problems are available in every breed of dog. That is why, the owner should also check the health condition of the dog for care the dog.
